The Republic of Rwanda is a sovereign state in central and east Africa. Located a few degrees south of the Equator, and is bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The president of Rwanda is Paul Kagame of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), who took office in 2000. There are five provinces which are delineated by borders drawn in 2006.
In association with The Rwandan Government, Comvergent undertook the task of procuring, delivering and installing a sectorised 3Ghz microwave ring around the border, providing connectivity from the airport via 4 mountainside towers for data transfer. Comvergent also installed an antenna radio system for voice communications on both the UHF and VHF frequencies.
The main purpose of this project was to establish both voice and data communications systems that would allow for helicopters flying the border to interrogate information via the existing CCTV systems and to transmit both voice and data communications back to a central point at the Airport. This project was not without its challenges, but Comvergent delivered it seamlessly through a turnkey mechanism.
Comvergent is proud to have undertaken this project in support of the Rwandan Government. Whilst it was not without its challenges, to avoid any unnecessary problems and to ensure success, all materials and equipment were procured outside of country to ensure that nothing delayed the project. All equipment was delivered into country in advance of the work commencing and the entire project was delivered on budget and in time.
