For over a year, Comvergent deployed 16 Tekelec Certified Testers throughout Russia, to manage all aspects of deployment for Signal Transfer Point Installation in support of Megafon, MTT and Technoserv. Signal Transfer Points (STP’s) are routers that relay messages between signalling end-points (SEPs) and other signalling transfer points (STPs), and are typically provisioned in mated pairs, allowing for regional redundancy and providing signalling over IP rather than dedicated circuits between switches.
The equipment is used for the management of lost and stolen mobile phones and number portability across the Russian Federation and worldwide.
This project required Comvergent to manage all logistics related to deployment including visas, travel and letters of invitation and once in country the ability to overcome language barriers to successfully deliver the project with each installation taking between 2 to 3 weeks per site.
Furthermore, Comvergent assumed overall responsibility for liaison between the end customer and the equipment supplier and undertook weekly meetings throughout the life of the project with local representatives and the equipment vendor in the United States, spanning all continents. Comvergent delivered vendor-specific training to the end customer, giving them the ability to manage on-going maintenance requirements.
