Comvergent help connect care home residents and staff
Northamptonshire-based Olympus Care Services (OCS) provide a range of care and support services for the elderly and adults with disabilities. The company is dedicated to increasing the level of independence for their residents and enabling staff to provide the very best possible service.
Realising that wireless connectivity played a major role in achieving this, the company began looking for a provider that could give both their staff and residents WiFi access in their care homes.
Finding the right solution
Due to the timescales required and the fact that the project involved the premises of vulnerable adults, OCS required a telecoms service provider with a distinct set of skills and experience and soon turned to Comvergent for a solution.
After consulting with OCS, Comvergent designed a technical solution, with products selected to suit their requirements. As a result, Comvergent then installed and commissioned an effective WiFi system across the whole care home network. Managing the whole project, from initial surveys, to installation and testing, they also saw the need for networked PCs and printers and worked with their partner IT company to introduce these as part of the project.
- Consultation – customer requirements gathering
- Solution design and procurement
- Project Management
- WiFi installed in 23 buildings
- 23 ADSL2 connections
- 34 WiFi access points
- 22 PCs and associated printers (for staff training)
- Web splash page and content filtering
To ensure that OCS, its staff and residents have seamless connectivity, Comvergent provide 24/7 monitoring and maintenance services. Comvergent have also since helped grow the solution in accordance with OCS’s needs. For example, adding additional sites, or transferring installed solutions from one site to another. This flexibility enables OCS to get full value from their capital investments, whilst not having to worry about project planning, control of required services (lines and ADSL2) and the decommissioning, recovery, relocation, installation and recommissioning of the solution.
By introducing a cloud-based WiFi solution with an intelligent interface, Comvergent ensured that all care site wireless solutions could be monitored and managed from a central location, saving the company time and money.
The project also enabled OCS to guarantee the best possible customer experience by reducing the time taken to recognise a service problem, deploy the right resource to site and restore service.
The Ruckus Zone Director Monitoring and Management application located at the NBC council offices allows Comvergent remote access for monitoring and management of all the APs. This enables them to provide a proactive monitoring and maintenance service, thus enhancing the public’s user
experience by keeping service disruptions down to a minimum.
